By Denise Hunter
This is my first Denise Hunter novel but it definitely won’t be my last. I love when I find an author I have never read and discover they are not only a great author but a prolific writer as well. That means many hours of enjoyable reading for me!
The two main characters, Sophie and Aiden, both have trust issues stemming from a father’s and a mother’s dissertation at different ages in their life. This fear causes not one but two breakups between them. The first at the ages of eighteen and seventeen and another ten laters later but it only last a week because they both have grown as individuals and realize it is their own fears of being abandoned that caused them to lash out at each other. Theirs is a sweet love story that becomes as fierce as the hurricane they survive together in Piper’s Cove. I liked the cast of supporting characters, especially Granny May, well maybe like is too strong a word for her dad. I actually didn’t like him at all.
I laughed. I cried. I got mad. Which means the story hits all of the feeling points to get you involved. It is a story of love, of heartbreak, of forgiveness, of redemption, and how your faith can get you through.
Let’s face it, we all (well almost all) love the beach, a good beach read, a cute bookshop so what could be better than a good beach read about a bookshop on the beach? It’s a great read so please give it a chance.
