I’ve read mixed reviews about Emily Henry’s Beach Read. I simply do not understand those that were negative and some down right nasty! It was a good book. I liked the characters of January and Gus. I liked the way she unwrapped their story together. Weaving their past into their current relationship. As the relationship developed so did who they were becoming. It was a quirky story about two lives who had passed in the night (on a dance floor) but then harbored in two slips next to each other at their respective beach houses. It is an easy read and that is what what our brains need at times.

I agree with your assessment. I have no idea where all the hate for this book comes from. It’s not meant to be great literary fiction, just an easy breezy read.

Why are some people nasty? If you can’t say anything good, say nothing. And we surely do need light, fun reads right now.

I’m in the minority when I say I didn’t really like this book as much as everyone else. One, I didn’t like the characters and two the plot was meh. I read it last year and all I remember is not liking it much while reading.

Thank you for sharing your reasoning! I completely understand not liking the characters as I’ve encountered several hyped books in which I didn’t like the characters. I agree that the plot wasn’t super new or different, but that’s partially what I liked about it—I found it relaxing. Thank you again for sharing! I love reading different opinions. ❤️🐝🐝
