The Selena Gomez Book Tag

Hey everyone! I was recently tagged by Nehal @ Books and Words in her ORIGINAL Selena Gomez book tag. If you haven’t checked out her blog, you really should.

I don’t listen to a lot of Selena Gomez, but after doing this tag, I might start! Honestly, this was a lot of fun. Whether I tag you or not, please consider doing this one.

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who tagged you and leave a link to their blog.
  • Mention the creator of the tag: Nehal @ Books and Words
  • Answer the prompts.
  • Tag at least 5 people.
  • Just have fun! 😃

Here are the prompts and my picks for them:

Love You Like A Love Song“: A romance novel that is cliché but you still love it

Buy A Deal with the Elf King (Married to Magic)

This was a hard one for me. I don’t read a lot of love stories because I find most of them cliche. This one, however, was a lot of fun. I love a good fantasy novel with some romance thrown in.

Rare: A book with a female protagonist unlike any other

Buy Firekeeper’s Daughter

Did you know there is this YA novel with a female protagonist who values family, tradition, and community over romance, gossip, and vampires? This is that novel!

Look at Her Now: A character who suffered a lot (physically/mentally) but eventually recovered and is now at the better end of life

Buy Where the Crawdads Sing

Someday I will do a tag or a book list in which this novel does not appear. Today is not that day. Kya Clark fits this description perfectly.

Wolves: A book that got you out of a reading slump

Buy The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter

I had an English teacher recommend this one to me when I was in high school. It’s pretty timeless. If you haven’t read it, you should definitely pick it up.

It Ain’t Me: A character you used to like but not anymore

Buy The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo: A Novel

I wanted to like this book, but I had to DNF about 300 pages in because Evelyn is so irredeemable. I usually like flawed characters, but Evelyn is so selfish that I can’t handle her. I know I’m in the minority here, and if you loved this book, please don’t be offended. The writing alone makes it a worthy novel. I personally just didn’t like the protagonist (and I figured out the twist too soon).

Feel Me: A character you can’t bear to see with anyone else but you

Buy Winter Counts: A Novel

I’m totally fine with Virgil Wounded Horse finding love with a fictional character, but he will always be my literary boyfriend.

Same Old Love: A book with an unoriginal and unrealistic romance

Buy Fairy Godmothers, Inc.

Don’t get me wrong. I didn’t think this was a bad read. My issue with it is that every other character is more interesting than the two characters who fall in love.

The Heart Wants What it Wants: A book you regret finishing because you miss reading it a lot

I’ve been trying to find a book that captures my attention like this one did. It has not happened yet.

Back to You: A book you read again and again even though you have other books on your TBR pile

I typically don’t re-read books, but I’ll be revisiting a few of my favorites with my children including the Harry Potter books. The boxed set above is on sale right now for half the price as what I paid for it.

Hit the Lights: A book that just made you forget everything else

Buy Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe: A Novel

Again, no tag is complete without including this one.

Tell me Something I don’t Know: A book people keep recommending you which you already have it in your TBR pile

Buy The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires

One of my best book friends keeps recommending this one, and it’s been sitting on my shelf for a while now. I should really get to reading it.

I Can’t Get Enough: A book series/world you just want more and more of

Buy The Iron Raven (The Iron Fey: Evenfall, 1)

The good news here is that there is a whole Iron Fey Series backing this one up! I just haven’t had time to read it yet.

To keep the pages turning, I Tag:

I can’t wait to read your answers.
