I read A Week at the Shore when it first came out, prior to starting our blog. I came across some reviews that were less than kind and I thought, “What are they talking about? I loved this book!”
So, I decided to reread it to see how I could possibly be so wrong, and guess what? I wasn’t wrong! I love this book. I love the main character. Maybe because I love photography and she’s a photographer, and we share the same philosophy of capturing those precious moments in time so they will always be there to recall years later.
Secrets, lies, devastating loss, and love and second chances. Tears and laughter. You get it all in this novel.
“My father is just a number, meaning no grandparents or aunts and uncles or cousins from him, so your family is all I have. I’m them – this hair, these eyes. And I love the beach. I want to go , Mom. Is scooping kitty poop really more important than that?”
I laughed when I read this. I mean who wouldn’t want to read a book with a quote like this that makes you laugh:)
I always want a happy ending or at least something happy at the end of a story. Life is hard and I don’t want to end a book with only sadness. So even though the book ended with some heartache, it also ended with hope. I give it Five Stars! Please give it a read!
