My Take:
Okay, I’m usually not a huge fan of romance, but this hilarious and spicy read was exactly what I needed to get into the spooky spirit.
Cat is a fantastic protagonist with some growing to do. Her magic has “ran out,” and she’s been avoiding her family when this story begins. She is also so competitive that she’s completely overlooked the fact that her childhood “nemesis,” Diego, has always been a little bit in love with her. Together the two of them have to battle a literal demon while figuring out their feelings for one another.
I thoroughly enjoy this listen. The world of Isla Bruja is so much fun, full of magic and a rich culture to go along with it. My only issue with this is that I wanted more!
