SUMMARY

All Charlie Payne wants is to lead a normal life and to be a good mom.

But Charlie’s not normal. She’s from a long line of witches and she can see the dead.

Susan Tate has inherited a beautiful old southern mansion on the coast. Unfortunately, the property came with a million necessary repairs. And ghosts.

When Charlie meets Susan, the woman is desperate for help. Taking on a spirit that who doesn’t want to see the light can be dangerous but ignoring it? Ignoring the dead can get you killed.

MY TAKE

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from this one. My kindle recommended it, and it was short.

That said, it was a well-written supernatural thriller. Charlie is a “psychic” and possibly a witch. That said, she behaves as any normal woman would in her situation—she hides her gifts and tries to be normal. When she encounters a malevolent spirit who is still hurting innocent women, she sets all of her insecurities aside to rescue those women.

Charlie is a strong female character, and I think any modern woman could relate to her.

This is a short read—perfect for a rainy fall evening.
